Customize Your Search Results View

Change how listings display in your search results, add and reorder columns, save your columns as a template, and adjust the Search map.

Use this article to change how listings display in your search results, add, remove, and reorder columns, save the layout as a column template, set a default template for new searches, and adjust the map on the Search page.

Change how listings display in your search results

Choose how listings display on the Results tab of the Search page by clicking an icon next to View, above your search results:

  • List: Displays listings in rows with no photos.

  • Expanded: Displays listings in rows, with a photo and a listing summary in the Location column.

  • Tiles: Displays listings as cards with larger photos and no columns.

  • Preview: Opens a preview of one listing at a time. Click the < and > arrows to move through the listings in your search results without leaving Preview.

  • Analytics: Displays charts based on the listings that match your search criteria.

Preview also opens when you click a listing in your search results. Click Exit to return to your search results.

Search Page Overview covers adding and arranging charts in Search Analytics, which is separate from the Analytics page in the top navigation bar.

Add, remove, and reorder columns in your search results

Customize the columns in your search results from the Columns menu just above them. If a column template is applied, the menu shows its name after Columns.

Columns are available in List and Expanded views. If you are in Tiles, Preview, or Analytics, click the List or Expanded icon next to View first.

Steps:

  1. Open the Columns menu above your search results

  2. Click the Columns tab

  3. (Optional) Search for a column by name

  4. Select or clear the checkbox next to a column to add or remove it

  5. Drag the handle next to a column name to change its position

  6. Click Update

Your search results update with the columns you selected. Location and Status can be reordered but cannot be removed, so they remain in your results regardless of the column template you apply.

To reorder columns without opening the Columns menu, click and hold a column header in your search results, then drag it to its new position.

Save your columns as a column template

Save your column setup as a template to apply the same columns and order to future searches.

Steps:

  1. Open the Columns menu above your search results

  2. Click the Columns tab

  3. Select or clear the checkboxes for the columns you want displayed

  4. Drag the handles to arrange the columns in the order you want

  5. Click Save New

  6. Enter a name for the template

  7. (Optional) Select Make this my default column view on a new search to automatically apply the template to new searches

  8. Click Save

The saved template appears under the Templates tab, and its name appears in the Columns menu when it is applied.

Important: Update replaces the template already applied with your current columns and order. Save New creates a new template without changing the existing one.

To apply a template you saved earlier, open the Columns menu, click the Templates tab, then select the template.

Set a default column template for new searches

Set a column template as your default so its columns and order are automatically applied when you start a new search. The default template has a filled star next to its name under the Templates tab.

Set a default in one of two ways:

  • From a template you already saved: Open the Columns menu, click the Templates tab, then click the star next to the template you want to make your default.

  • While saving a new template: Open the Columns menu, click Save New, select Make this my default column view on a new search, then click Save.

When you start a new search, Perchwell applies your default column template unless you have a Template Search. A Template Search takes priority because it applies filters, sort order, columns, view, and map settings together.

See Create a Template Search to learn how to create a Template Search and set it for new searches.

Resize, hide, and change layers on the search map

Adjust the search map from either the Filters or Results tab of the Search page.

  • Resize the map: Drag the handle on the right edge of the map to make it larger or smaller.

  • Hide the map: Click the panel icon at the top left of the Filters or Results panel, next to the map. Click the icon again to show the map.

  • Change map layers: Click the layers icon in the lower right corner of the map.

The layers panel includes map styles and overlays:

  • Roads, Terrain, and Satellite: Select one to change the map style.

  • Flood: Turn on to show Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) flood risk areas, color-coded by risk level on the map.

  • Parcels: Turn on to show property boundaries on the map. The toggle is disabled at wider zoom levels, so zoom in until it becomes active.

To search within a specific area instead, see Map Tools in Search for steps on the radius, polygon, freehand, and commute tools.

Read the flood risk areas on the search map

The Flood overlay colors the search map by FEMA flood risk area. Click View flood risk definitions at the bottom of the layers panel to open the FEMA Flood Areas window, which explains each color:

  • Low risk (green): Areas with a reduced chance of flooding, where flooding is still possible.

  • 500-year flood area (yellow): A 0.2% chance of flooding in any given year.

  • 100-year flood area (orange): A 1% chance of flooding in any given year.

  • Regulatory floodway (red): A river or watercourse channel and the surrounding land that must be kept clear so floodwater can drain.

Flood risk areas come from FEMA's National Flood Hazard Layer.
