What the Coming soon, Active, Active under contract, and Pending listing statuses mean
Coming soon, Active, Active under contract, and Pending are the listing statuses for current listings, from before showings start through an accepted offer.
Coming soon: The seller has signed a listing contract, and the seller and broker are preparing the property for sale. Coming soon is an optional, off-market status, which means the seller is not taking offers through the MLS and the property cannot be shown. A listing can stay in Coming soon for up to 30 days.
Active: The listing is on the market and no offer has been accepted. The seller or lessor is allowing showings and taking offers through the MLS.
Active under contract: The seller has accepted an offer, but the listing stays on the market. The seller may accept backup offers, and showings may continue if the seller chooses.
Pending: The seller has accepted an offer, and the listing is no longer on the market.
What the Closed, Leased, Expired, Canceled, Temp off mkt, and Withdrawn listing statuses mean
Closed, Leased, Expired, Canceled, Temp off mkt, and Withdrawn are the listing statuses for listings that have sold, leased, or come off the market.
Closed: The purchase agreement has been fulfilled and the title has transferred.
Leased: The lease agreement has been signed.
Expired: The listing contract has expired.
Canceled: The listing contract has been terminated. Only brokers and MLS staff can change a listing to Canceled. Agents who need a listing canceled can ask their broker.
Temp off mkt: Short for temporarily off the market. The listing is off the market for now, but the listing agreement between the broker or agent and the seller is still valid.
Withdrawn: The listing has been taken off the market, and the seller does not plan to return it to Active. The contract between the seller and broker is still in place.
Find listings by listing status in Search and Manage Listings
Find listings by listing status with the Status & Activity filters on the Search page. Filter Your Search by Status and Price Changes explains how to search by current status or by a status during a set time.
On the Manage Listings page, the Status filter includes Coming soon, Active, Active under contract, and Pending by default. Add another status, such as Closed or Expired, to see listings in it. Manage Listings Page Overview covers the other filters on that page.

Members who came from a legacy platform may know two listing statuses by other names:
Contingent on Sale: Now Active under contract.
Active New Construction: Now an Active listing with Construction Status set to Under Construction.
